The Cityzens enter this clash on the back of their impressive 4-2 comeback victory over Crystal Palace while Forest look to put their 2-0 Tottenham defeat behind them.

Preview

The midweek action in the Premier League continues on Wednesday, with defending champions Manchester City being one of the headline acts for this day. Guardiola's side will be in action at 2:30 p.m. in another home game, hosting none other than Nottingham Forest in a bid to maintain their strong start.

While no longer boasting a perfect record, the Cityzens enter this clash on the back of an impressive result, beating Crystal Palace in their most recent outing. De Bruyne and Co. welcomed Vieira's tricky crew over the weekend, but despite being the favorites, the home side found themselves in danger of suffering an embarrassing defeat, going 2-0 after only 21 minutes courtesy of a John Stones' own goal and a header from Andersen.

However, the champions of England turned it up a notch in the second half and showed why they are one of Europe's most feared teams. Shortly before the hour mark, Bernardo Silva pulled one back, albeit thanks to a fortuitous deflection, thus sparking a lovely comeback. From then on, it was the Erling Haaland show, with the Norwegian superstar scoring a hat-trick to guide the club to a brilliant 4-2 victory.

That is their third victory so far, having played four games this season. As mentioned earlier, not all have ended in victories, with Manchester City dropping points away to Newcastle in Matchweek 3, drawing 3-3 at St. James' Park.

However, the 2-0 triumph over West Ham in the opening round and the 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth the weekend after means they are currently second in the table, two points behind league leaders Arsenal – the only remaining club with a perfect record.

Pep's men don't enjoy the best defensive records so far, having conceded five times already, which is the joint-third worst record among the top six. However, the Cityzens enjoy the best attack, having scored a whopping 13 times already, a feat only Liverpool can match.

In Nottingham Forest, City are facing a club with an identical defensive record to them. However, unlike the defending champions, the newly-promoted side have scored only twice and will be in for a fight of their lives if they wish to pick up a point at the Etihad Stadium.

The Reds enter this clash on the back of their weekend defeat at home to Tottenham, a result which they can feel hard done by. In that fixture, Steve Cooper's men conceded really early, with Harry Kane netting after only five minutes of play. However, from then on, the newly-promoted side put in a gallant display.

Unfortunately, Forest could not find the back of the net and one lapse in concentration in the final 10 minutes saw Kane score again and complete his brace, thus deciding the game. It was the Nottingham side's second defeat of the campaign, and first since their opening day loss to Newcastle.

While the visitors might have made a ton of new signings this summer, translating that into success on the pitch is always a difficult ask. Turning that into victory over the defending Premier League champions will be even more tasking. Don't miss this clash.

Team news

Man City: Guardiola will be without Jack Grealish once again, but he isn't the only absentee, as Aymeric Laporte and Kalvin Phillips continue their road to recovery. Nathan Ake could return for this fixture, but the Dutchman is unlikely to displace Ruben Dias and John Stones in the lineup. There is also an argument as to whether Julian Alvarez will force his way into the starting eleven.

Nottingham Forest: Moussa Niakhate and Omar Richards remain injured but Renan Lodi, their latest signing in their major summer spending spree, should make the bench at least. Remo Freuler, meanwhile, will hope for a start while Emmanuel Dennis will be vying for the same after his cameo of the bench vs Tottenham.

Key stats
