Both Lyon and Juventus are looking to get back to winning ways after each side suffered losses over the weekend.

Preview: Les Gones take on La Vecchia Signoria as they hope to keep European football hopes alive

Lyon currently sit in fifth place in Ligue 1, six points away from a Europa League spot and nine from third-placed Lille and a Champions League berth, whilst Juventus have already secured European football as the Serie A leaders. However, both sides are coming into the match after losing their respective league matches this weekend and will be keen to put those negative results behind them.

Bianconeri midfielder Claudio Marchisio offered his thoughts on his team's 2-0 defeat to Napoli and slammed reports that the team is now in crisis whilst stating his opinion on their French opponents.

"We must remember the match against Napoli--we played poorly and now have a chance to redeem ourselves in Europe," the 28-year-old Italian international mused before the clash.

"But we're not in crisis. It's normal for us to run into difficulties because other teams have been studying our game and will try to cause problems for us. [As for Lyon], they're a great team to have gotten to this stage in the Europa League...a physically strong group with players who can hurt us on the counter-attack. So we'll have to be careful."

Antonio Conte will be without the services of veteran defender Andrea Barzagli due to injury as well as midfielder Arturo Vidal, who will serve a one match ban. However, attacker Carlos Tevez, who missed out on his side's clash with Napoli due to a suspension of his own will be back in action as Juventus will be counting on the Argentinian to be on top of his game against a potentially tricky opponent.

As for Lyon, coach Remi Garde has acknowledged the difficult task his side faces in dealing with the Bianconeri, but feels that his side have the quality to put up a good fight against a team that appears, at least on paper, to be the favourites to get through to the next round.

"We have a mountain in front of us but we will try to overcome it by all means," he stated in a pre-match press conference.

"My team is a young one, but we're very ambitious and this kind of match will help us grow [as a group]."

However, their task will be made much more difficult due to the absence of midfielder Yohann Gourcuff due to a sprained ankle, as well as playmaker Clement Grenier as a result of an infection. Nonetheless, attacking duo Alexandre Lacazette et Bafetimbi Gomis, both of whom Conte singled out as the biggest threats to his side will be available for Garde's selection.

Juventus, who have been criticized in Italy as being strong in the league but weak in Europe will be keen to prove their doubters wrong, especially as the final will be at their home ground, but Lyon certainly will not give up easily without a fight.
