The title race is heating up in Spain, with Barcelona having a chance to go top of the table on Saturday. beIN Sports USA will provide live coverage of this La Liga match on Saturday, March 29.

Preview: Barcelona can go top of La Liga, before their rivals take the pitch

Just a week ago, claiming the La Liga title looked very difficult for Gerardo Martino. After an important victory over Real Madrid, and three points mid-week against Celta Vigo, the Blaugrana are ahead of the Merengues, and just one point back of Atetico Madrid.

On Saturday, Barcelona will be without Victor Valdes. The Spanish goalkeeper was stretchered off against Celta Vigo, and was ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

Jose Manuel Pinto will be stuck with the task of leading his squad to a 23rd La Liga crown.

“It’s a very hard blow, but this team has lived blow to blow for a long time and we will move forward,” Martino said at his press conference.

“This point in the season I thought that everything that was going to happen to us had already happened.”

With Valdes apparently heading out of the Camp Nou at the end of the season, it looks like he may well have played his last match for the Catalans. 38-year-old Pinto will try to keep his side rolling, with an early kick-off on Saturday, which could take them top of the table before Atletico and Real Madrid take the pitch later in the day.

Espanyol is eighth in La Liga, eight points back of a Europa League spot. There are eight matches remaining in the campaign, so every point becomes vital from here on out.

Segio Garcia has called on his teammates to step up and make a final push for a Europa League spot.

“Barcelona will be focused 100 percent,” Garcia told reporters. “We are having a good season, imagine what it would be like to beat them at our own ground. It would be fantastic. Hopefully it will be a nice derby and that we can get the three points.”
