A 1-3 defeat at White Hart Lane a week ago has Tottenham against the wall heading into Lisbon. Despite all their injury concerns, they will have to go for, and you can follow all the action live on Fox Sports 1 USA.

Preview: Injuries are a big concern for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Lisbon to take on the current Portuguese League leaders. After a 1-3 defeat at home against the Eagles, the English side are in desperate need of a miracle.

Adding to Tim Sherwood’s problems are a number of injuries that will put Tottenham against the wall on Thursday evening.

Jan Vertonghen is suspended for this match after picking up a yellow card in the first leg. Younes Kaboul also picked up an injury at the weekend against Arsenal, which has ruled him out of the match in Lisbon. With Michael Dawson and Vlad Chiriches already out, Sherwood has no central defenders at his disposal.

It is likely that Brazilian midfielder Sandro will be forced to fill in at the back, alongside Belgian defender Zeki Fryers, who is naturally a fullback.

Kyle Walker’s nagging groin injury has also kept him back in London, while Danny Rose, who started against Arsenal, will face a late fitness test.

Making things even worst for Sherwood, Adebayor and Paulinho did not travel with the squad to Lisbon. The Togolese striker picked up an ankle injury, while Paulinho has a slight knock but will be rest for Tottenham’s upcoming Premier League match against Southampton.

If overturning a two-goal deficit was going to be difficult, things got even more difficult now for the North London outfit.

Benfica has been in incredible form, and they continued that on Monday with a 2-4 victory over Nacional da Madeira, after going down 1-0 within the first seven minutes.

After Luisao scored two goals in London, his center-back partner Garay scored two against Nacional. With all of Benfica’s scoring options, pace and creativity going forward, and playing at home in front of their crowd, Tottenham could be in for an even more difficult 90 minutes than they had a week ago.
