Sánchez leaving Inter to join Ligue 1 side?

Alexis Sánchez edges closer to Ligue 1 move as Inter has terminated his contract

August 1, 2022 By Oscar Rojas
The Chilean ace would have to take a 50% pay cut to join one of the top title contenders in the French top-flight.

After weeks of speculation about his future, striker Alexis Sánchez has finally agreed terms to leave Inter Milan as a free agent.

According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Chilean footballer has agreed to finalize his contract with the nerazzurri for an undisclosed fee. His exit will give Inter a chance to add new players to their roster, including those who have already signed contracts with the Italian side this summer.

Sánchez's departure as a free agent will also facilitate his move to a new league, as Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille will be able to sign him in coming weeks. The blue and white side did not present a bid to sign the footballer until he terminated his deal with Inter since they could not afford to pay for his transfer, but now that he has been labeled as a free agent, the French side will pursue his signing.

Sources close to the French club suggest that Sánchez will earn €3M per season for the next two years with the French side, which is less than half of what he earned as part of the nerazzurri. That way, the Chilean footballer will be playing for a sixth European club across the top five European leagues, having performed previously for Udinese, Barcelona, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Inter.

Sánchez played 109 games across all competitions for Inter, scoring 20 goals in the process. The Chilean player won the 2020-21 Serie A, the latest edition of the Coppa Italia, and the 2022 edition of the Supercoppa Italiana, where he scored the game-winning goal for the nerazzurri.
