The first major title of the German football season will see Bayern starting the post-Lewandowski era against a tough RB Leipzig side.

A new era in Bundesliga football will begin this weekend with the clash between RB Leipzig and Bayern München. Die Roten Bullen will face the Bavarian side trying to win their first-ever title in this competition, but they will not have an easy match against the most-winning team in this tournament's history.

The game in itself carries a lot of interest, but the fact that this will be the first competitive match for Bayern since Robert Lewandowski's departure will make fans even more eager to watch this game. The Polish ace left the Bavarian club to join Barcelona in the most controversial move of the summer, and his exit could have a massive domino effect for the team coached by Julian Nagelsmann.

On the other side of the pitch, RB Leipzig will try to place themselves right at the top of the list of title contenders this season if Bayern cannot figure out a way to maintain their seemingly never-ending run as Bundesliga rulers. The team coached by Domenico Tedesco won the DFB-Pokal for the first time in history last season, and a victory here could see them becoming true challengers for the Bundesliga crown.

Team news - RB Leipzig vs Bayern München

This has been quite an active transfer window for RB Leipzig, who have hired goalkeeper Janis Blaswich and midfielder Xaver Schlager from Vfl Wolfsburg. The real activity for the Red Bulls has come on the exits department, as they parted ways with six players, including Tyler Adams, Hwang Hee-chan, Brian Brobbey (who joined Ajax) and Nordi Mukiele (who was hired by PSG). Just like last year, RB Leipzig will rely in Christopher Nkunku, Yussuf Poulsen, and Emil Forsberg as their major threats up front.

Aside from Lewandowski's exit, Bayern have also made some noise in the transfer window by hiring players such as Sadio Mané, Matthijs de Ligt, Ryan Gravenberch, and Mathys Tel. On the other hand, Bayern have also seen quite a few players leaving their discipline, including Niklas Süle, Marc Roca, Corentin Tolisso, and Chris Richards. Out of those, the exits of Süle and Tolisso will not be easy to sort out, as they added depth to the team in some key moments last season.
