One of the biggest moves in the world of football was confirmed yesterday, as Bayern München and Barcelona have agreed terms to see Robert Lewandowski joining Los Culés. Unsurprisingly, the player was ecstatic to have the news confirmed and went on to share his feelings with his fans in a lengthy interview with Bild.
In the interview with the German media outlet, Lewandowski looked back at his time with Die Roten and shared how things could have gone down differently between himself and the club where he won the UEFA Champions League in 2020, among many other trophies.
"Bayern and I did unnecessary things. I believe that both parties can be satisfied with this negotiation. Bayern will be getting a lot of money and I will finally be able to join Barcelona," Lewandowski said.
The striker went on to reveal the real reasons why did not hold back in showing his desire to leave the club where he won it all, including the recognition from most experts that referred to him as the ultimate No.9 in the globe.
"It was the toughest decision I have had to make in my life. It is a big decision because I wanted to live in another place. Now, I expect to win many titles with my new club," Lewandowski stated.
The player even discussed details of a meeting between himself and Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández where he realized the real magnitude of the challenge he is about to undertake.
"I ran into Xavi while we were in Ibiza and there was instant chemistry between us. He told me he would wait for me as long as he could so we are able to win many titles together," the striker said.
The Polish ace analyzed Barcelona's current situation and how the team's activity in the current transfer window could be key to see Los Culés back where they belong.
"Barcelona had quite a few problems last season, but this year they have made some great signings and they could be on the right track to go back to the top," Lewandowski added.
The footballer revealed he did not have time to say goodbye to his former team-mates, but he promised to go back to do so and thank them personally for helping him make history with the Bavarian side.
