For the first time ever, Manchester United fans saw what their team looks like under the management of Erik ten Hag.
Although it was only a pre-season clash, the Dutch tactician made his debut yesterday as the Red Devils took on bitter rivals Liverpool in an interesting showdown in Bangkok, Thailand. The 20-time English champions named a strong lineup in the first half of this clash before introducing a number of youngsters in the second 45 minutes, with both elevens impressing on the pitch.
Jadon Sancho, Fred, and Anthony Martial got on the scoresheet in the first half before Old Trafford youngster Facundo Pellistri made it 4-0 after the break. This is how the score line remained as the Manchester giants secured a huge win over a fellow Premier League giant.
While he did not make it on the scoresheet, one man who impressed on Tuesday was Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese star, who endured a 2021/22 season full of highs and lows, was back at his best, pulling off eye-catching pass after pass during his time on the pitch.
Not only that, but the former Sporting CP sensation and several other Manchester United players exhibited great energy, pressing Klopp's men all over the pitch in an impressive display.
As a result, Bruno has made it back into the headlines due to some comments he made about Ten Hag and his training methods. Speaking to the club's official website, the Theatre of Dreams midfielder admitted that the Dutchman demands high intensity, with players often feeling "really tired" after one of his sessions.
"No, it's been pretty intense," Bruno told Manchester United's official website. "He likes intense training, reactions when you lose the ball. He likes everyone to run.
"He's been really good. Everyone is enjoying [it], obviously. Everyone gets really tired at the end of the training but that's what we have to do.
"We have to be like that at the end of the training, but then you know the training was really good.
"As I said, we have to do the hard work because, if we do it now, then we will be fit for the beginning of the season.
"We all know the first games of the season are strange, but we want to be the ones that will be winning.
"We have to do the maximum that we can and what the coach and all the staff ask us to do."
This will definitely be music to the ears of Manchester United fans as the Red Devils faithful felt their team were often played off the park last season. However, it should be noted that even after that 4-0 pre-season victory, Ten Hag admitted that there is still a lot of work needed, adding that several mistakes were made by his men, meaning supporters will need to be patient with the new regime.
