Matchday two of the 2022 UEFA Women's EURO competition continues as four more teams: Denmark, Finland, Germany, and Spain feature on July 12th.

Preview: Denmark vs Finland

Both Denmark and Finland suffered heavy defeats in their respective EURO openers against Germany and Spain respectively, so it goes without saying that the Scandinavian teams will be looking to bounce back when they clash on Tuesday evening. For Denmark, who finished as runners-up five years ago, their 4-0 humiliating loss to Germany, they also will be really keen on avoiding an early exit for the first time in 13 years.

The defeat for Denmark marks a second straight loss for Lars Søndergaard's team, who had been in excellent form otherwise, and they will naturally seek to recover against a very familiar opponent (the two sides will be meeting for the fourth time at a EURO tournament and 12th overall on Tuesday).

Meanwhile, it appeared that Linda Sällström had given Finland a major boost after she netted early against Spain, who came into this tournament missing two of their star attackers. However, La Roja quickly overturned the deficit and scored four goals sans reply to hand Anna Signeul's squad a heavy and humbling loss. Unlike Denmark, Finland came into this contest in sluggish form, with just one win from their last five games prior to the loss to Spain.

Team news: Denmark vs Finland

Denmark: Having received a caution on matchday one, Stine Larsen is in danger of missing out on her team's final group stage game if she receives another card here. In addition, youngster Kathrine Møller Kühl's naivete and inexperience has cost her a spot in this game, as she received two yellow cards in a very frustrating debut for the 19-year-old.

Finland: Likewise, Emmi Alanen received a caution on matchday one and will need to tread a fine line if she does not want to be suspended for Finland's next game.

Match facts: Denmark vs Finland

  • Denmark and Finland will be meeting for the 12th time on Tuesday
  • So far, Denmark have won five times, while Finland have won three (three draws)
  • However, Finland do have the better record at EURO competitions, with wins during the group stages in 2005 and 2009
  • Overall, Finland have won just one of their last seven meetings overall with Denmark (D1 L5)
  • Denmark are unbeaten in their last four meetings with Finland (W3 D1)
  • Denmark are hoping to avoid back to back group stage defeats since Finland beat them in 2005 (matchday three) and 2009 (matchday one)

Preview: Germany vs Spain

An intriguing clash will be on the cards as Germany and Spain prepare to battle for top spot in Group B. Both teams come into this game having kicked off their respective EURO tournaments in fine form, with die Nationalelf thrashing Denmark 4-0 while La Roja came from behind to cruise to a 4-1 win over Finland. For Germany, who are the most successfully side in the Women's EURO competition, they will be looking to finally reclaim their place at the top after coming up short last time out, and have started this quest off on the right footing after getting revenge against Denmark on matchday one for their 2017 loss.

Germany have a strong track record against Spain, as they will come into this contest unbeaten in their last six meetings (W3 D3). Having cruised through qualifiers, scoring 46 and conceding just once, they certainly will fancy their chances at making it two wins in two games this summer and booking their spot in the quarter-finals - especially as they have won all seven of their prior EURO games played on English soil.

The last meeting between Germany and Spain was back in 2019, during which Germany edged out their opponents 1-0 during the World Cup. In addition, while Spain will also be brimming with confidence after recording their highest ever goal output at a EURO competition with their 4-1 win over Finland, Germany have lost just one of their last 19 EURO group stage games (W14 D4) - and that was nine years ago, when they were beaten 1-0 by Norway during the group stages.

Team news: Germany vs Spain

Germany: Marina Hegering, Lena Oberdorf, and Felicitas Rauch are all in danger of being banned for the next game if either pick up another card on Tuesday.

Spain: Irene Paredes is walking a suspension tightrope and will be banned for matchday three if she picks up another card on Tuesday.

Match facts: Germany vs Spain

  • Germany are hoping to win what would be their ninth EURO title this summer
  • Die Nationalelf failed to make it to the last four for the first time in team history when they were beaten by Denmark in the 2017 quarter-finals
  • Meanwhile, Spain are featuring at the EURO for the fourth time and are hoping to make a return to the final four for the first time since their debut in 1997
  • La Roja have failed to get beyond the quarter-finals in their last two tournaments
  • Germany have lost just one of their last 19 EURO group stage games (W14 D4)
