After being delayed for over a year due to COVID-19, the UEFA EURO Women's tournament will finally get underway. The 13th edition of this quadrennial competition kicks off with England, who are serving as hosts for the second time, taking on Austria on Wednesday, July 6th at Old Trafford.

The 2022 UEFA EURO Women's tournament will be taking place from July 6th through July 31st, 2022.
England will be hosting the 2022 UEFA EURO Women's tournament, with ten stadiums (and other venues) in eight cities hosting the matches. The stadiums (and other grounds) are as follows:
A total of 16 teams will be taking part in this summer's competition, and Northern Ireland will be making their debut at this competition.
Initially, Russia were also set to feature, but after conflict broke out between that country and Ukraine, all Russian teams were banned from the competition. As such, Portugal, who had been beaten by Russia during the play-offs, will get to participate for the second time in this tournament.
The 16 teams have been divided into four groups of four teams each. After that, the two top teams from each group will feature in the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals, and then the showpiece final.
31 games will be played between the tournament opener on July 6th and the final played on July 31st.
The Netherlands are the defending champions, having won the last tournament in 2017, and will be hoping to make it back to back wins in their fourth appearance at this event.
Germany, with eight titles are by far the most successful side in UEFA Women's EURO tournament history; however, they have not won it since 2013.
