The Red Devils are looking to pull off another coup after securing their first signing of the summer.

Manchester United are set to complete a double swoop for two Eredivisie stars with the summer transfer window now in full swing. The Red Devils have successfully hijacked Olympique Lyon's move for Feyenoord starlet Tyrell Malacia and are aiming to beat Arsenal to the signing of Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez.

The Athletic claimed on Tuesday that United had reached a deal with Feyenoord worth up to $17.7 million, with primary fee being $15.6 million plus a sell-on clause. Prior to that, Ligue 1 outfit  Lyon had been in talks with Feyenoord about Malacia and had agreed to a sum of $13.4 million upfront, plus $2.1 million in add-ons. Lyon had intended to complete the transaction on Tuesday but could not see the deal through after United hijacked the deal with their superior bid.

On Thursday, multiple reports indicated that talks on personal terms had hit a snag after issues relating to Malacia's image rights surfaced. However, it is understood that the 22-year-old left-back has agreed to a four-year contract with an option for a fifth year, albeit the agreement has not to be signed. The Dutch defender is expected to complete the move in the coming days and could potentially join the rest of his new teammates before Man United jets off to Australia for the pre-season.

In hindsight, the Athletic have also reported that the Red Devils are keen on completing a tramsfer to bring Lisandro Martinez to the club. The 24-year-old defender is on the priority list of Arsenal and the London club have reportedly tabled a bid to Ajax in anticipation of recruiting the player this summer. Nevertheless, the move has now been complicated by their Premier League rivals who are keen on reuniting thr Argentine and his former boss Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

It is claimed that talks between Manchester United and Ajax have advanced pretty well and an official bid of $42M has been made for Lisandro Martinez by the former. According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have already seen one offer of similar value rejected, but United could inflate their proposal with add-ons. Meanwhile, Ajax it is speculated that Ajax are holding out for a package in the region of $52M.

After the official confirmation of both deals, Manchester United are expected to finalise their move for De Jong while they wait for a response from Christian Eriksen.
