Inter's Calhanoglu publicly slams Ibrahimovic

'Ibrahimovic is a 40-year-old man!' Inter's Calhanoglu slams Zlatan after winning Serie A with AC Milan

June 23, 2022 By Ali M.
The Turkish ace has hit back at the Swedish icon after he mocked the midfielder during to Rossoneri's title celebrations.

Despite being former teammates, there looks to be no love lost between Hakan Calhanoglu and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Turkish ace has publicly slammed the Swedish icon, a man he shared a dressing room with during their time together at AC Milan, in response to the striker's title celebration antics. The 40-year-old was seen mocking the attacking midfielder along with the fans after sparking anger from the Rossoneri faithful with his summer move to the Nerazzurri.

Calhanoglu left Pioli's side last summer for free in favor of Inzaghi crew, with the former Hamburger and Leverkusen star publicly admitting that he crossed the city divide to win the Scudetto. Unfortunately for him, less than a year later, it was AC Milan who were crowned the champions of Italy, with Il Diavolo lifting the Serie A title after beating Inter to the crown by two points.

Hakan doesn't appear to have taken a liking to Ibrahimovic's actions as the playmaker has come out and publicly slammed the attacker. According to the Inter ace, the former Manchester United and PSG goalscorer is obsessed with being the center of attention, an accusation that many might agree with. Additionally, the Turkish international was quick to point out Zlatan's stats this season, arguing that he barely played a role in AC Milan's title success after enduring an injury-ravaged campaign.

"Ibrahimovic is a 40-year-old man, not 18, so I wouldn't do that sort of thing at his age," he told Tivibu Spor (as per Goal).

"He just likes being the centre of attention. He didn't contribute to the Scudetto this season, he barely played, but will do everything to be the focus anyway.

"Besides, he is the one who always calls me up, asks me to go out to dinner or for a motorbike ride. He wrote about me in his book too. He had to write something, or it would've been blank pages.

"It's best not to bother, honestly."

While Ibrahimovic wasn't able to be a constant presence in Pioli's title-winning side, the veteran goalscorer played his part nonetheless. The Swede made 23 appearances in Serie A and managed eight goals, including crucial efforts against Lazio and Roma in the second half of the campaign.

Unfortunately, the iconic no.9 will return to the sidelines and remain there for quite sometime after undergoing a surgery. Ibrahimovic went under the knife to repair damage and instability in his left knee but will sadly be out for the rest of the year.
