Club football around the globe may be limited to lower-tier leagues and to friendly matches, leaving national teams with the "responsibility" to keep fans busy during this summer break in all top-caliber leagues.

Fortunately for football fans in the world, those matches featuring national teams did not disappoint, with some of the most popular teams in the football arena leaving it all on the pitch to satisfy their fans.

One of those teams involved in a highly-anticipated match was Argentina, who claimed the Finalissima title after beating Italy. Nonetheless, the clash was not the most-watched in the United States during the past week, as that honor fell on the USMNT's lap thanks to their friendly clash against Uruguay. So, in a way, the USMNT "beat" Messi and Co. in the battle for the most-viewed football clash of the week.

Surprisingly, there was only one goal scored among the top three games this week, but what a meaning it had for the team who scored it. Wales' lonely goal against Ukraine broke their 64-year-streak without a spot in the FIFA World Cup, which proved quite interesting to watch for football fans in the United States.
