El Tri and La Celeste lock horns in what should be one of the most interesting friendlies in the current international break.

Usually, the games between Mexico and Uruguay have delivered interesting matchups and some top-caliber goals, which is why fans in both countries and in other nations should really keep track of the friendly game between them set to take place this Thursday.

The history between El Tri and La Celeste goes way back, with both sides playing some crucial games against each other.  To make matters even more interesting, both coaches have face their rivals previously, which could result in quite a tactical match between these American teams.

Mexico will get to this game after defeating Nigeria in an entertaining match played last Saturday. The Mexican side took home the win thanks to an own goal by the Nigerian defense, but their general performance was satisfying enough for their fans and for those experts who followed the game.

The team led by Gerardo Martino will keep working with some of their most familiar faces, which might include  Andrés Guardado and Guillermo Ochoa, both being expected to make the final cut and play in their fifth FIFA World Cup in December. Added to them,18-year-old Marcelo Flores and other youngsters will be eager to make their presence felt with El Tri.

On the other side of the pitch, Uruguay will begin their preparations for the FIFA World Cup with this friendly, which will be the first game for them since they claimed their spot in the FIFA World Cup by beating Chile 2-0 in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers.

The team led by former Inter Miami coach Diego Alonso won four games in a row to reach their ticket to the World Cup, a place that had been jeopardized by a string of bad results that saw them lose four games in a row in 2021, the last one of those against Bolivia, a team that had not beaten them in an official tournament for quite a while.

Being this one of their first preliminary matches ahead of the World Cup, coach Alonso called up the best of the best for La Celeste, including Edinson Cavani, Federico Valverde, Diego Godín, and Benfica's sensation Darwin Núñez. The only absence for these games will be that of Luis Suárez, who is still recovering from an injury.

Considering that both teams will have some of their best men available, this should be a must-watch clash for all football enthusiasts.
