Transfer: Chelsea and Man Utd target drops hint on his future

May 30, 2022 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The French attacker has outlined his future transfer plans ahead of reported Chelsea and Man United interest.

RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku has put his purported move to the Premier League this summer in doubt with his latest admission. The 24-year-old French attacker has hinted at a move back to Paris Saint-Germain despite both Chelsea and Manchester retaining interest in his recruitment.

Nkunku has been one of Europe's breakout stars this season, and his exploits has rightly drawn a lot of interest from top clubs on the continent. The ex-PSG academy graduate joined the RB Leipzig in 2019 and has since established himself as a crucial player for the club.

In the just ended season, the forward single-handedly spearheaded Die Roten Bullen's quest to finish in the top-four in the Bundesliga, and was utimately adjudged the best player of the league ahead of Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland after registering 20 goals and 13 assists in 34 appearances. Across all club competitions, he finished the season with 35 goals and 20 assists in played 51 games.

The future of Nkunku at RB Leipzig is certain to be uncertain, with multiple reports stating that the Frenchman is eyeing a move away from RB Leipzig this summer. Premier League pair Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are all said to be keeping tabs on the player. However, his latest admission suggest that he might favor a return to Paris Saint-Germain and potentially form a new partnership in the attack with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

Asked about his future and whether or not he will be at Leipzig next season, he said: "Paris is my home, my favourite club. I don't close any doors.

"Everything is possible in football. It's nice to have the biggest clubs in the world interested in me. But it's also great to see that Leipzig are doing everything to keep me."

As admited by Nkunku, RB Leipzig are determined to keep him at the club for next season although multiple reports from Germany have indicated that the club may be forced to sell should they receive an offer in the excess of $70 million.
