Barcelona will get back to La Liga play on Sunday against Elche, as they look to take back the top spot and beIN Sport will bring you all the live action.

Preview: Blaugrana look to continue their form with Valdes back in the squad

Victor Valdes is set to leave Barcelona in the summer, but until then, the Spanish goalkeeper is a key figure at Barcelona. A calf injury has kept him out for quite sometime, but Jose Manuel Pinto did a decent job in his absence.

His return will be a boost to the whole squad, who look to open the new year with a victory. Failure to do so would leave Atletico Madrid top of the table, with both sides set to meet in their next La Liga fixture.

Heading into the Vicente Calderon in first place will be what Tata Martino will want, as well as the Catalan players.

"The team is in very good shape and feeling very positive indeed," Iniesta told the club's official website. "We need to carry on as we did last year. The key is to not think any further beyond our upcoming match, first we should worry about the weekend fixture and then change the chip and start thinking about the cup," he added.

With a busy schedule in the month of January, Barcelona will be forced to avoid any over exertion of their players. They will feature in six matches in the present month, four La Liga fixtures and two Copa del Rey.

Unfortunately for Barcelona, they will not have Messi back for Sunday's match, but he is on the right track. The Argentine is back at the Nou Camp after completing a rehabilitation on his thigh injury. Despite being injury free, Martino has decided to not force Messi back into the squad too soon.

Meanwhile, Sergio Busquets will have to miss the match after picking up his fifth yellow card in Barcelona's last match. Dani Alves may also be a notable absence, with the Brazilian suffering from an illness.

Knowing that one or two absences will not weaken the hosts, Elche's manager knows his squad are in for a tough 90 minutes.

"We are excited to visit the Camp Nou, but although it is complicated, we will not give up the game as lost," Fran Escriba told reporters.

Two points separate Elche from the drop zone, which puts them in a tough spot heading into Sunday. While no club has managed to leave the Camp Nou with a point, Escriba believes his side can pull it off, but it could be very unlikely.

They will have to do it without Damian Suarez and Coro, who are both suspended. Without them, a tough task becomes even tougher, especially seeing as the visitors ended 2013 with one victory in their last 10 outings.
