Most of Manchester United fans are despondent, naturally so, with the news that the injury to their top marksman Robin van Persie will keep him off the pitch for at least a month but no one will rue this development more than under-fire manager David Moyes.
The Dutchman almost single-handedly delivered United's 20th Premier League title last term, netting a remarkable 26 goals on his way to the golden boot. RVP’s 2013/14 season also started in promising fashion at individual level, with his 7 goals in the league alone.
However, the fact that the defending champions are currently languishing in 9th position in the EPL is a cause of concern for Red Devils supporters worldwide.
Van Persie’s strike partner Wayne Rooney has worked really hard for the team and scored 8 league goals but given the indifferent performance of most of his other teammates, his individual endeavors can not be relied upon to steady the sinking United ship.
And now with the packed agenda of the Christmas period, manager David Moyes is going to have sleepless nights trying to face the dark without the former Arsenal captain who will only return to the pitch in 2014.
Cartoonist Omar Momani made up this hilarious piece of art to paint the situation:
