Preview: Spotlight on Luis Suarez
The Uruguayan is undoubtedly the man of the moment in England. His undisputable talent was exhibited in midweek when Liverpool hosted Norwich City. The game was of high importance – not so much because of the opposition’s size on paper, but because of the Merseyside Reds’ obligation to bounce back from their shocking 3-1 loss away to Hull City last weekend.
Buoyed by his individual great record against Norwich, Luis Suarez went on to do more than what was expected of him. He scored four goals – all of which were stunning – and provided an assist to Sterling as his side rounded up a fantastic 5-1 win.
At this moment, fervent Liverpool supporters might feel far less anxious concerning the long term absence of injured striker Daniel Sturridge. That said, Suarez will be tasked to once again shoulder the responsibility of finding goals against West Ham United.
The latter have an advantage in terms of physical condition as they played on Tuesday, a day before Liverpool. Psychologically, however, the Hammers are down. They lost to Crystal Palace and thus failed to further move away from the bottom three in the Premier League standings.
West Ham United have 13 points and are only 17th. Liverpool, meanwhile, are where they are hoping to finish come the end of the campaign – in the Top Four. They lead fifth-placed Everton on goal difference as both Merseyside teams count 27 points, behind EPL leaders Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.
