Preview: Inter and Juve both in top form – who wins?
The whole of Italy is beaming following the exploits of the Azzurri during the international break. The 2006 World Cup winners qualified for Brazil 2014 last Tuesday. This achievement preceded their evolvement in the latest FIFA World Ranking released on Thursday; the Italians are now fourth behind world leaders Spain, Lionel Messi’s Argentina and 2010 World Cup bronze medallists Germany.
On Saturday, however, all of these will be put aside as Internazionale and Juventus will lock horns. Fans of each side will engage in a heated atmosphere at the San Siro. This will be an exciting way to open Matchday 3 in the Italian Serie A.
There seems to be a breath of fresh air in the camp of the Nerazzurri under new coach Walter Mazzarri. Inter boast a perfect record out of two games and they are yet to concede a goal. They commenced the season by beating Genoa 2-0 at home before imposing themselves 3-0 away to Catania.
Likewise, the Bianconeri have picked up maximum points so far thanks to wins away to Sampdoria (1-0) and at home to 2013 Supercoppa Italiania losers Lazio (4-1). Juve warmed up with a friendly match against Borgomanero on Tuesday. They won 7-0 and should be in good shape this Saturday.
The referee for this Derby d’Italia will be Daniele Orsato. The latter has officiated 15 matches in which Juventus have featured. Out of those, the Old Lady have won only four games, drawing eight times and losing thrice.
