The last weeks of the Mexican tournament are here, and fans for all eight teams remaining in the competition want to keep an eye on what each club can do to take the title home.

The time has come for Liga MX to watch the top teams in the league looking for a spot in the semi-finals of the Clausura 2022 tournament. This edition of the Mexican "liguilla" will give fans quite a few things to keep an eye on, starting with the first set of games that are due to be played from Wednesday to Thursday.

The last weekend in the league left some interesting topics on the table, with Chivas' form being the most discussed among Liga MX fans. Guadalajara's supporters have every reason to believe in their team's chances of success, but facing the defending champions will not be an easy task. Curiously, the rest  of the teams that earned their spot in the liguilla via playoffs did so from the penalty kick spot, which will make it a bit harder for fans to figure out what they really can do for their cause this week and in two-legged ties.

Let us have a closer look at each one of the games that will take place in the next 48 hours, which may also have a lot to do with the outcome of the coming matches this weekend.

Atlético San Luis (8) vs Pachuca (1) - May 11, 2022 at 20:00 ET

Perhaps the most uneven game of the four taking place this midweek will feature San Luis and Pachuca. The hosts for the first liguilla game made it to the playoffs last week in tenth place of the Liga MX standings, but, even with that in mind, they found a way to eliminate the heavily favored Monterrey. Now, André Jardim's men will want to prove that their win last week was the consequence of their hard work and not something out of the blue. Unfortunately for them, Pachuca were the most consistent team in the league, and with three wins in their last four matches, the only thing left for them to do is to try and replicate their form during the regular season, where they won more games than any other club in the Mexican top-flight, with 12 victories under their belt.

Puebla (5) vs América (4) - May 11, 2022 at 22:05 ET

Two teams with far different forms face each other at Cuauhtémoc Stadium. Puebla started the year with a bang, but their recent performances casted a shadow of a doubt over their title hopes. Now, La Franja will host the most winning team in Liga MX history and their impressive record that includes eight games without a loss and six of those ending in wins. América's defensive prowess under coach Fernando Ortiz could prove key in the outcome of this game, as las Águilas have only conceded once in eight matches, and getting to the return leg with any advantage will be the right thing to do for the yellow and blue club.

Cruz Azul (7) vs Tigres UANL (2) - May 12, 2022 at 20:00 ET

La Máquina suffered against Necaxa in the playoffs but prevailed in the penalty shootout. Now, they must try to keep their momentum going when they host the dangerous Tigres, one of the favorites to win the title. The team from the North side of Mexico will be eager to play this game, as coach Miguel Herrera has tormented Cruz Azul in the past with different teams, with a special mention to his two Liga MX Final wins when he coached América. Cruz Azul must prove that their experience and status as one of the top title contenders has not faded away, even if they only managed to win one of their last five matches.

Guadalajara (6) vs Atlas (3) - May 12, 2022 at 22:05 ET

Jalisco's "civil war" will take place in a way no Clásico Tapatío has been played in recent history: with Chivas making it to this match on a four-game winning streak, and with Atlas entering the pitch as defending champions. One of the fiercest rivalries in Mexican football will put an end to the first legs of the Liguilla MX with everything making us believe that we could have a title winner in whichever team makes it out of this clash. Atlas finished their season with only two wins in their last five, but if coach Diego Cocca stunned the world in December, he could very well pull one more impressive result this time around.
