Man City will aim to move another step closer to securing the Premier League title when they travel to the Molineux for Wednesday night's clash.

Manchester City can close in on a fourth Premier League title in the last five seasons when they face Wolves on Wednesday night. City are almost there after a crucially significant weekend in which Pep Guardiola's side established a three-point lead over Liverpool by beating Newcastle 5-0 the day. This came after Jurgen Klopp's side drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

On Tuesday, the Reds closed to the gap once more with a 2-1 comeback win over Aston Villa and, while they are tied on points but trail the Citizens on goal difference, the onus lies with the latter to ensure that they remain on course to clinch the title. The Etihad outfit will approach the midweek's encounter on the back of a four-game unbeaten run, with their last defeat in the premiership coming in February.

Within the period, they have successfully scored 17 goals, conceding just one in that run. The Blues' unbeaten away streak in the top flight impressively stands at 16 games - a new club record to effect. Having secured a 1-0 win over Wolves in the reverse fixture, the news of Erling Haaland's imminent arrival in the summer has also lifted the spirit of the Manchester club as they look to see out the rest of the matches left.

For Wolves, ruining the party for City and potentially keeping their charge for a European spot remains the only objective. Bruno Lage's men sparked a sensational comeback to share spoils with Chelsea by scoring two late goals to tie the score over the weekend. Currently in eighth position with five points separating them and seventh placed West Ham while having a game in-hand, a win over Man City could well set them up for a massive finish.

Usurping Manchester United is a possibility for Wolves although the Red Devils will be required to lose their final game against Crystal Palace while they win their remaining three games. However, their poor run of form coupled with the high stakes for Man City puts them at a disadvantage ahead of Wednesday's crucial clash.
