A three way fight for qualification could ensue in Group C considering the caliber of three of the four teams present in it.
Colombia’s strength is well known throughout the world of soccer. Their players have the muscle required to simply go through the opposition. Moreover, their squad is quite a good one; a few players have European experience as they ply their trade in Italy. They will be challenged by a unique Turkey side.

Turkey is ready to take on any side considering the finesse of their play. The German influence of course adds to their styles. Three members of the current squad play in Germany. There is also some Belgian and Dutch influence in the side. Turkey should go through this group; this is only the third time they have qualified for this prestigious tournament. Colombia’s physicality will be a challenge they might find difficult to overcome though.

Australia will be no pushovers. The Aussies reached the semifinals in both 1991 and 1993. English influence was and will always remain in the Aussie game. Four of the Aussie squad plays in England while one plays in Scotland. The Aussies are a strong unit; they always put up a good fight. They will be hopeful of qualifying even though Turkey’s finesse could be their undoing.

The fourth member in the group is a team which nobody is giving too much thought to. However, El Salvador perhaps commands more respect. Quite a few members of their squad have MLS experience while some have European experience. All three teams will have to be careful when taking on this underdog. This is El Salvador’s first time in this tournament; they have never qualified before.

Turkey’s best showing came in 2005 when they qualified for the Round of 16. They failed to get out of the preliminary stages in 1993. Colombia on the other hand picked up third place in 2003. Considering everyone’s records in this tournament, Colombia and Australia are seemingly the obvious winners. However, anything could really happen in this group.

The passion of the Turkish fans might help their team reach previously untouched waters. The Turkish fans will undoubtedly be loud and boisterous. They will look to propel their team to unbelievable heights.
