Chelsea defender offering his services to R.Madrid

Chelsea defender reportedly offering his services to Real Madrid

April 19, 2022 By Oscar Rojas
The Spanish side had already contacted the player in the winter transfer window, but the Blues' situation could facilitate the footballer's plans to join Los Blancos this summer.

When things between Chelsea and Real Madrid seemed to be limited to on-the-pitch matters, negotiations to see one of the Blues' top-rated players may start once more with the footballer's blessing.

Last week, the English side came close to beating Los Blancos in the UEFA Champions League with a stellar performance of the player in question. Now, the defender has picked up negotiations with the Spanish side after a couple of weeks where the La Liga leaders had decided to pull the plug on the move.

The player in question is none other than Antonio Rudiger, who is set to become a free agent by the end of the season. The German player has not been able to negotiate a contract extension with the Blues due to the restrictions slapped on the Premier League club because of their owner's links to the Russian government, and while other teams have approached the footballer to ask about his future, it seems that Rudiger is keen on wearing the Los Blancos jersey next season.

The main problem for Rudiger -and for Real Madrid- would be to reach an agreement regarding the player's wage. A couple of months ago, negotiations to sign Rudiger fell apart due to his wage demands, but it seems that the player is set to make up his mind about his future before the end of the season, and such a move would make it easier for Real Madrid to add him to their squad.

Rudiger has played 196 games for Chelsea since he joined them in 2017, where he started to thrive after a couple of seasons where he got used to Premier League football. Now, Rudiger is often referred to as one of the best defenders in the world, and the possibility of adding him on a free transfer has to be tempting to all top-notch clubs in Europe.

Reports coming in from Spain and England suggest that Rudiger has already turned down offers from Manchester United and Juventus to join Los Blancos, which means that it is up to the Spanish side to make the next move.
