The 2014 World Cup champion with Germany will be forced to leave Fenerbahce this summer, and joining the MLS has emerged as a fine option to keep his career going.

German midfielder Mesut Özil may be living his final days in a European league, as the footballer may be preparing to leave Fenerbahce to join a Major League Soccer club.

Özil's last game with the Turkish club took place on March 20, but he has been frozen out of the squad due to a disciplinary problem that involved a member of the team's staff and former Watford footballer Ozan Tufan. Now, the midfielder is seeking for a way out of the club, and a close friend has told Turkish media outlet TRT where he could keep his playing career going.

Former footballer Ridvan Dilmen, who played for the Turkish National Team in the wake of the 21st Century, shared an update on Özil's career, hinting that a move to North America could be in the works and negotiations could already be taking place.

"I get together with Mesut every two weeks. I know there's an interest from Los Angeles FC. I have even seen a text message about it," Dilmen said.

Özil's arrival to Turkey was met with joy by fans and by team exec Ali Koç, but he has only been able to play 37 games and score nine goals across all competitions since he joined the Yellow Canaries.

As for the LAFC, the black and gold team would have no problem in adding Özil to their roster, as the team has only listed Mexican ace Carlos Vela as a designated player. Be that as it may, it would be interesting to see how Özil could adapt to a new league, even if his best moments in Europe have come and gone.
