Honduras and Grenada will lock horns this coming Saturday in Round 3 of the Gold Cup competition in a game that should attract a lot of attention.

Honduras defend against the USA in vain. They go on to lose 2-0 in the end. After suffering a 2-0 defeat to the USA whereas Haiti conquered Grenada 2-0 on that same day, Honduras have some work to do if they want to ensure themselves a place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Grenada are definitely out of the Gold Cup. A 4-0 loss to the USA followed by a 2-0 defeat against Haiti in the second round meant that the challenge was over for the Spice Boys.

Therefore, they’ll have nothing to play for but pride when they clash against Honduras. Grenada were predictable losers in the Gold Cup but ironically, they could have a lot of impact on the fortunes of favorites Honduras.

A draw might even be enough to see Honduras eclipsed from the Gold Cup at the expense of Haiti. Such a result will come out as a huge upset and disappointment for Los Catrachos.

But on paper, Honduras are poised as favorites to win this encounter. Influential forward, Costly, could rekindle his potential against the weak defense of Grenada. Meanwhile, Honduras’ playmaker, Walter Martinez, will try and erase the anguish of missing a glorious one-on-one chance against the USA on Wednesday.

So it tells that Grenada will have to find some strength from above if they want to deal with the wild and hungry Catrachos come Saturday.

Now, winning by a one goal margin against Grenada may not be enough for Honduras; however, they still stand as favorites to clinch the second spot in Group B.
They currently share the same points and goal differences as Haiti. But on paper, Honduras’ task in the third round seems less difficult than Haiti’s.

While Honduras will try and inflict more pain on winless Grenada, Haiti will need to pull an upset by beating giants USA who have won both of their games.
