The Canadian sensation argued on Twitch that the Englishman should not be the skipper ahead of the Portuguese icon.

According to the rumors, several Manchester United players aren't happy with the decision to hand Harry Maguire the captaincy, hence the alleged dressing-room rift. This sentiment, however, isn't reserved to only those who play at Old Trafford as Bayern Munich superstar Alphonso Davies has also questioned this situation publicly.

The Canadian sensation opened up about this situation on his Twitch channel and addressed the elephant in the room: the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo. The arrival of the Portuguese icon over the summer has put the English center-back under heavy scrutiny, with several fans believing that the armband would be best suited for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

And Davies agrees with this point, telling his chat during a live session on Twitch: "Can you guys imagine [that] you're Ronaldo, right?"

"Harry Maguire is your captain. You refer to him as captain – I don't know what he says to him."

"I'm not dissing Harry Maguire, but Ronaldo should get the armband, man."

Despite Davies claim that he is not dissing Maguire, this is the latest public criticism of the English center-back. The Three Lions ace was recently booed at Wembley Stadium by his own fans, sparking anger from manager Gareth Southgate, but the defender has long been receiving stick from Manchester United supporters.

His form has taken a huge dip, resulting in many demanding he be dropped from the lineup. However, interim boss Ralf Rangnick has shown no interest in benching the former Leicester man or in stripping him of the captaincy.

The Red Devils are currently fighting an uphill battle to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season. The 20-time English champions currently sit outside the top four, with form favoring one of Tottenham or Arsenal to join the likes of Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea in UEFA's premier club competition.

A new manager is set to arrive at Old Trafford in a few months, with Ajax boss Erik ten Hag being heavily linked with the job. It will be interesting to see whether Solskjaer's permanent successor will favor the out-of-form Maguire or not.
