World Cup Live on CBC - Comprehensive coverage includes all 64 games available in English and French

GOAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!! There are less than 3 months to go before Canadians are treated to complete and unprecedented coverage of the world’s game, the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.  From June 11 through July 11, CBC Television, Radio-Canada Télévision, CBC’s digital channel bold, CBCSports.ca and Radio-Canada.ca will broadcast more than 1000 total combined hours of the highly anticipated tournament in English and French, ensuring that Canadians will not miss a moment of the excitement from start to finish.
 
Host nation South Africa will kick off the tournament against Mexico on Friday, June 11 following the Opening Ceremony.  The reigning FIFA World Cup™ champions, Italy, will make their tournament debut against Paraguay on Monday June 14. On July 10 CBC will celebrate the grassroots and diversity of the beautiful game at home with Popsicle Soccer Day in Canada beginning at noon ET, honouring Canada’s rich history with the game of soccer.  Fans will also be treated to MLS on CBC action during soccer day, as Toronto FC plays host to the Colorado Rapids.  The month long tournament will culminate with the final match in Johannesburg on July 11, followed by the trophy presentation to crown the world’s soccer champions.

 

All 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ matches will be streamed live and on-demand on Radio-Canada.ca/FIFA (launching in May) and CBCSports.ca/fifaworldcup.  Both sites will offer engaging and innovative features, including the opportunity to take part in live in-game chats; watch video highlights; read feature stories and the latest front line reports from South Africa; check out detailed histories of all the players and teams and classic FIFA World Cup moments, and blogs from experts around the globe.
