MLS Matchday 5 Match of the Week: Portland Timbers vs. LA Galaxy

Portland Timbers arrives at Matchday 5 with one win, three draws and a loss. Despite sitting ninth in the West, the Timbers have proven themselves as a hard team to beat.

Portland fended off New England and LAFC to begin the season and then took down an Austin side that had put ten goals past its first two opponents of the season. A bad first half against FC Dallas saw the Timbers fall 4-1 at Toyota Stadium, but they responded with a one-all draw against Orlando at home.

LA Galaxy will fight for a win that would put the team back on track to success. But defeating the Timbers at Providence Park will be a difficult task.

The Galaxy kicked off their season with two wins and a draw. However, it came crashing down against Seattle Sounders and Orlando City. Greg Vanney will look for his team's response as they look to regain their form. To do so, Los Angeles must be the first to take down Portland at home this season.
