The Bayern Munich ace was tearful after witnessing his country end their 36-year wait for a FIFA World Cup appearance.

Canada took on Jamaica on Sunday in what will forever be a memorable CONCACAF World Cup qualifier for the North American nation.

The Canucks entered this tie simply needing a draw in order to seal their ticket to Qatar 2022, with Jonathan David and Co. sitting top of their qualifying group, ahead of both the USA and Mexico. Canada went above and beyond, thrashing their rivals 4-0 and becoming the 20th country – 19th if you exclude the hosts Qatar – to seal their spot in this year's FIFA World Cup.

And this was undeniably an amazing feat for John Herdman's men. This country of just over 38 million people have not qualified for the coveted tournament since 1986, bringing their long and bitter 36-year absence to an end.

As a result, Alphonso Davies' emotional reaction at full-time was both understandable and brilliant. The Bayern Munich sensation, who has just returned to training for the first time since developing a heart condition back in January, watched the qualifier live on Twitch.

In the final minutes of the game, the full-back could be heard calling for the referee to blow the final whistle. When that moment arrived and the match official brought an end to the clash with Jamaica, thus confirming Canada's Qatar 2022 berth, the Bundesliga superstar burst into tears of joy in front of his chat. Check it out in the video below.

With that out of the way, two things will be the focus for Davies. First is the FIFA World Cup draw as this will decide their group-stage fate and whether progression to the round of 16 will be plausible. Secondly, but more importantly, the defender will continue his recovery as the 21-year-old hopes to return to fitness in time for Qatar.
