The Danish playmaker was met with an amazing reception upon his return and got on the scoresheet to cap the night.

288 days after that terrible moment at the Euros, Christian Eriksen put on the Denmark shirt for the first time and immediately sparked a frenzy in Saturday's friendly encounter with the Netherlands. The 30-year-old midfielder found the back of the net with his first touch, having been on the pitch for less than two minutes inside the Johan Cryuff Arena.

It was an emotional day at the Danish camp on March 24 when Christian Eriksen reunited with his compatriots after surviving the heart scare in the Euro 2020 against Finland last summer. Having excelled for Brentford in the Premier League since his return, the former Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur man received a call up to parttake in the March friendlies against the Netherlands and Serbia on March 26 and March 29 respectively.

On Saturday, the first of the two matches ensued at the Johan Cryuff Arena and while the outcome did not favor Denmark, there was something even better to smile about. The hosts were fired in front by Steven Bergwijn in the 16th minute before Jannik Vestergaard found the equalizer for the visitors in the 19th minute. 10 minutes later Nathan Ake nodded home Daley Blind's cross to restore the Netherlands lead before Memphis Depay increased the advantage to two with a spot-kick.

Just a minute into the second half, Eriksen replaced Jesper Lindstrom and he was quick to make a mark, scoring with his first touch in less than two minutes. Watch the goal below:

The Netherland's two-goal advantage was restored after Steven Bergwijn scored his second of the night in the 71st minute. In the aftermath of the encounter, Eriksen took to his social media pages to express his delight to be back in the national team once more. The Brentford midfielder is expected to get some minutes when his side takes on Serbia on March 29th.
