The Blaugrana are keen on the Norwegian superstar, but with the Catalan giants losing ground to Real Madrid and Man City, they could be forced to look elsewhere.

It's no secret that Barcelona are on the hunt for attackers. Despite signing Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who have both hit the ground running, back in January, the Blaugrana remain keen on further strengthening their front three, with a no.9 being targeted.

It is also well-known who target number one is at the Camp Nou: Erling Haaland. The Catalan giants, despite their financial problems, are reportedly really adamant on signing the Dortmund sensation.

However, Barcelona look to be losing that race, with Manchester City and Real Madrid being tipped as the two favorites. As a result, Xavi's men have drawn up two alternatives should they miss out on the Norwegian, with the Spanish outfit set to shift focus towards Robert Lewandowski and Mohamed Salah should that occur.

This is according to Marca, who claim the Polish and Egyptian superstars are now plans B and C at the club. Both men are entering the final year of their contracts with their clubs, thus opening up the possibility of a move away from Bayern and Liverpool, respectively.

The Bundesliga champions are yet to offer their man a contract renewal, hence all the uncertainty. As for the Premier League heavyweights, they have tabled a contract extension, but that offer has allegedly been turned down as it does not match Salah's demands.

With Barcelona wanting a striker, Lewandowski better fits the bill, being the best goalscoring no.9 in Europe for the past few seasons. However, with the Polish ace being 33, age is not on his side. The Anfield star, on the other hand, is 29 and is thus thought to be "a more favorable option".

Nonetheless, Haaland remains the priority. While Laporta stressed that the club won't put themselves in financial risk for any player, expect the Spanish giants to fight until the very end for Erling.
