The Bavarians are on the verge of signing one of the hottest prospect in European football this summer.

Ajax wonder-kid Ryan Gravenberch has confirmed that Bayern Munich have made an approach to sign him this summer. The 19-year-old midfielder whose contract runs out at the end of the season has expressed his wish for Ajax to receive a fee ahead of his imminent departure, hence the Bavarians making an attempt to secure his signature ahead of other suitors.

Gravenberch came out of Ajax's famed academy and has already established himself as a key member of the first-team squad despite his young age. He made his debut in September 2018 at the age of 16 years and 13 days, immediately breaking Clarence Seedorf's record to become the youngest ever Ajax player to play in the Eredivisie. His development has caught the eyes of the top European clubs with Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich among those with concrete interest.

With the contract of the player expiring this summer, the three clubs are expected to make a swoop for the 19-year-old sensation. However, latest reports from Germany and the Netherlands have indicated that Bayern have assumed pole position in the race. According to De Telegraaf, the Bundesliga outfit has made an opening bid of around 25M euros to sign the Netherlands international from Ajax following a successful meeting with his agent.

The report has since been backed by Gravenberch, with the player confirming the interest of Bayern Munich and expressing his fondness for the club. Asked about the prospect of joining the Bundesliga club and the reported fee, he said: "Yeah, of course. You can read it everywhere, so there is interest from Bayern, but I think there are several.

"I know about Bayern interest. My father & agent are dealing with it. I am focused on football".

"For sure Bayern is a top club," Gravenberch added in his interview with NOS.

"If you are worth €25M, then you can be quite proud. It's a lot of money!"

At the moment, nothing has been agreed yet but the player is said to be 'really tempted' by a move to Bayern. Reports from Germany suggest that he had been identified as the ideal replacement for Corentin Tollisso who could make a switch to the Premier League this summer.
