However, the Egyptian superstar left everyone worried after limping off the pitch with a foot injury ahead of Wednesday's trip to Arsenal.

Liverpool took to the pitch in Saturday's early fixture, locking horns with Brighton in a highly-anticipated clash at the Amex. Given the heated title race, Jurgen Klopp's side needed to beat the Seagulls in order to maintain pressure on Premier League leaders Manchester City, and triumph they did, beating Graham Potter's men 2-0.

January signing Luis Diaz broke the deadlock for the visitors, heading the ball past Robert Sanchez after only 19 minutes to give his side the lead. The Merseyside giants dominated the proceedings from then on, but despite getting into dangerous situations on several occasions, the Reds were forced to wait for some time before doubling their lead and killing the game.

Liverpool were able to breathe a sigh of relief just after the hour mark thanks to Mohamed Salah as the Egyptian superstar netted his side's second of the game. This goal came courtesy of a penalty, as the away team were awarded a spot kick after Yves Bissouma blocked Naby Keita's shot with his hand inside Brighton's box.

This strike from the league's top scorer saw him reach two brilliants feat. First of all, he took his goalscoring tally this season to 20, thus becoming only the sixth player in history to net 20+ Premier League goals in a single season on four or more occasions.

Additionally, the 29-year-old took his goal contributions for Liverpool to 158 (115 goals, 43 assists), moving level with Anfield icon Robbie Fowler. Only Steven Gerrard, with a goal contribution of 212 (120 goals, 92 assists), sits ahead of the former Chelsea and Roma attacker.

However, Salah's day did not end well as the African sensation limped off the pitch after picking up a foot injury. Speaking after the match, Klopp stressed that it did not look serious. However, with Wednesday's trip to Arsenal fast approaching, Liverpool will be made to sweat over their talisman's fitness.

"We will see," the German boss told BT Sport, as per the club's official website.

"He thinks it's not serious but you can see when Mo Salah is sitting down then something is not 100 per cent right.

"I think it was the situation before when he hit the ball and got blocked – he wanted to shoot and got blocked and I think the foot got slightly overstretched. We have to see."
