EPL rivals monitoring Tuchel amid Chelsea crisis

Premier League rivals reportedly eyeing Tuchel amid Chelsea's Abramovich fiasco

March 12, 2022 By Ali M.
Tuchel's future at Stamford Bridge has come under heavy speculation in the wake of Chelsea's recent troubles.

Many of Chelsea's Premier League rivals are looking to take advantage of their recent crisis, with club owner Roman Abramovich being sanctioned – and his assets being frozen – by the UK government over his alleged ties with Russian president Vladimir Putin. One aspect facing concern is the future of head coach Thomas Tuchel.

One club have reportedly begun monitoring the German tactician amid all this uncertainty at Stamford Bridge and they are none other than Manchester United. While the former PSG and Dortmund boss has not decided to leave the London giants, Chelsea's future is under threat and should the world-class gaffer decide to jump ships, the Red Devils wish to be first in line for his services.

Ralf Rangnick is currently in charge at Old Trafford, but only on an interim basis, with the iconic German set to take up an advisory role at the club once the current campaign ends. While it's unclear what power he will hold in Manchester United's managerial recruitment process, the Daily Mail claim that Rangnick wishes to nominate Tuchel, whom he worked with at Ulm and Stuttgart 25 years ago, for the job.

The British tabloid add that there has been no approach from the Red Devils, nor will there be unless the Blues boss communicates a desire to depart from the club. Chelsea's bank account was temporarily suspended and while a change in ownership is set to happen, it remains uncertain whether Tuchel will re-evaluate his future with the UEFA Champions League holders.

Nonetheless, if this was to occur, Man United will hope it happens before the summer as the 20-time English champions will have to hire a new manager before the 2022/23 pre-season gets underway. Ajax's Erik ten Hag and PSG's Mauricio Pochettino are the two favorites as of now. Pochettino's recent disappointment in Europe might make him more attainable than the others
