The league leaders matched an extraordinary milestone with the weekend's triumph, adding to their quest to secure the title.

The latest round of fixtures in the Portuguese Primeira brought forth a lot of talking points starting with league leaders FC Porto adding to their incredible form. The Dragons extended their unbeaten record in the league this season to 25, defeating Paços de Ferreira 4-2 to mantain their six point lead above second-placed Sporting CP.

With the result, Sergio Conceição's side took their unbeaten run in the league to 53, equalling Sir Bobby Robson's record for the longest streak by an FC Porto manager. They are now just three games away from breaking the club's record for unbeaten league games (record set by Andres Villas Boas and Vitor Pereira in 2011 and Vitor Pereira and Paulo Fonseca in 2013) and are four matches away from the league record of 56 unbeaten games set by Benfica between October 1976 and September 1978.

Elsewhere, Sporting continued to pile pressure on Porto by winning their respective game against Arouca. A double from Islam Slimani secured a 2-0 win for the hosts as they took their points tally after 25 outings to 61. Third-placed Benfica registered a 2-1 win at Portimonense to go within four points of Sporting while Braga retained the place in the top-four with 1-1 draw in their trip to Boavista.
