With the Old Trafford star's contract ending this summer, the Frenchman has been linked with a return to Turin.

The future of Manchester United ace Paul Pogba remains up in the air, but could we see the Frenchman return to the club where he rose to superstardom?

The World Cup winner has been linked with a second spell at Juventus, having enjoyed a meteoric rise after leaving the Red Devils for free to join the Old Lady. Unfortunately, his high wages and a potentially large transfer fee always appeared to be the biggest roadblock for the Bianconeri.

However, things are different this time around. The midfielder's current Old Trafford contract expires this summer, meaning Juventus could land their former player for free should they decide to enter the race for his signature. But will the Italian giants pursue a Bosman transfer for the 28-year-old?

Massimiliano Allegri was asked for his thoughts on this matter, and while the Italian tactician admitted that he enjoys a tremendous relationship with Pogba, having managed him for two seasons in Turin, he refused to speak candidly about a player of another club. However, the manager did have time for a laugh, joking that their relationship might have soured after he beat the Red Devils man at basketball.

"Pogba? It makes no sense to talk about the market now," the Juve boss said, as per Goal. "He's a Manchester United player, I don't know what he's going to do next season.

"It's true that I had a great relationship with him, but he's angry with me because I always beat him at basketball!"

Don't expect the Juventus links to die down. The player has also been linked with a move to PSG and Real Madrid, but given his connection with the city of Turin, one cannot rule out a reunion with the Old Lady.

As for now, the Bleus ace is simply focused on the ongoing campaign. Manchester United find themselves in the midst of a top-four race, with West Ham, Arsenal, and Tottenham breathing down their necks in the fight to secure UEFA Champions League football.

Next up for Ralf Rangnick's men is a highly-anticipated showdown with Premier League leaders Manchester City. Defeat at the Etihad Stadium could see the 20-time English champions drop below the Gunners despite having played three games extra.
