MLS Matchday 2 Match of the week: LAFC vs. Portland Timbers

A clash between Western Conference members Los Angeles Football Club and the Portland Timbers headline Matchday 2 of Major League Soccer. The game will be broadcast live on television in the USA on FOX Sports 1 and stream live for Americans to watch on the FOX Sports App and Foxsports.com.

LAFC came back home with three goals and three points after facing Colorado Rapids in week one. Carlos Vela shined, claiming his third hattrick as an LAFC player. Ecuadorian midfielder Jose Cifuentes assisted Vela's second and third goals. The Black-and-Gold was as efficient in defense, keeping Colorado to only one shot on target.

The Portland Timbers arrive at Los Angeles after a 2-2 draw against a powerful New England Revolution side at home on Matchday 1. Dairon Asprilla scored Portland's first goal to event things out a first time, and Yimmi Charra leveled the scoring for good late in the game. Manager Giovanni Savarese's Timbers will be hungry for an away win.

The Timbers lead the all-time series between the two sides 5-3-4, and they are on a five-game undefeated streak – three wins, two draws – against LAFC.
