Mane reveals how the pair have been handling the aftermath of Senegal's Africa Cup of Nations win since returning to Anfield.

One of the biggest questions on every Liverpool fan's mind is how Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah would fare side-by-side after their recent run-in in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final.

The Senegalese and Egyptian superstars locked horns in the ultimate game in the recent tournament, with the Lions of Tarenga beating the Pharaohs on penalty. Mane netted the decisive spot kick, bringing joy to his nation while breaking the heart of his Anfield comrade.

The former Southampton winger shared a lovely moment with his club teammate straight after the victory as Sadio was seen consoling a tearful Salah. However, the sadness of missing out on the AFCON title will not erode quickly for the Premier League's top scorer.

So how do the pair handle this situation? Mane revealed everything to the Que Golazo YouTube channel. The 29-year-old stated that the pair have a pact of silence, meaning they do not talk about their showdown in Cameroon, which could be crucial given that their two country's will face off once again in the FIFA World Cup playoffs for a spot in the Qatar 2022.

"Me and Mo Salah don't even talk about it," Mane said about their upcoming World Cup qualifying clash.

"I think that I'm still thinking about my African Cup, but it's also an important game that means a lot to me and my people.

"If we can qualify - and we will do everything to do it - it's very important for me, my team-mates and my country because it's a really, really massive competition, which is a dream for any football player.

"We will be well prepared for it and do everything possible to win because it's really important."

Sadio once again stressed that he has not spoken about his Africa Cup of Nations victory since returning to Merseyside out of respect for his friend, adding: "Until now - you won't believe me - but we haven't talked about it, because I know he's still disappointed for sure."

Both men made their return to Liverpool's lineup over the weekend as the two inside forwards started in the Reds' 1-0 victory over Burnley. While the Senegalese ace was quized about the upcoming World Cup qualifier, his focus will solely be on his club's UEFA Champions League showdown with Inter Milan.

The Premier League giants will lock horns with the Nerazzurri in the round of 16, with the first leg taking place in Italy. Victory on the road would all but guarantee Liverpool's spot in the quarterfinals but beating Lautaro Martinez and Co. is easier said than done.
