The French striker single-handedly spurred on the Rossoneri to secure three vital points against their local and title rivals.

Two goals within three minutes turned things around for AC Milan in Saturday's Milan derby and the Rossonerri have Olivier Giroud to thank for the massive result secured at San Siro. The French striker proved to be a reliable outlet for his side who had trailed for a little over half an hour, inspiring them to a win that has seen the point deficit between the top-ranked clubs being cut down to just one.

Ivan Perisic had put Inter in front by side-footing a volley into the bottom corner having made contact with Hakan Calhanoglu's corner-kick. The Nerrazzuri subsequently pushed on for a winner but were only able to go into the break with their one-goal advantage. In the second half, chances were aplenty as usual while the game's intensity also magnified but no breakthrough would arrive until after the 75th minute.

Olivier Giroud grabbed the equalizer by emerging in the Inter Milan penalty box to slid in a loose ball after Brahim Diaz's shot was deflected. Three minutes later the former Chelsea and Arsenal attacker sealed the victory with a beautiful turn and finish from Davide Calabria's pass, becoming the first ever Frenchman to score twice in a Serie A game against Inter.

In the last seconds of the game, AC Milan's Theo Hernandez was sent off for a lunging tackle on Denzel Dumfries. However his side managed to hold onto the win and are now within a point of Inter, who remain in first place, and three points ahead of third-placed Napoli.
