Canada could be the first team from this region to book their tickets to Qatar, but the USMNT, Mexico, and Panama will be the ones to look after in this batch of games.

The international break could see the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers giving out the first confirmed ticket to play in Qatar next winter, while some of the top teams in the region from many years ago go all in to keep their fates in their hands ahead of the final qualification games set to take place in March.

Sunday's games left some interesting results for the eight teams fighting for the three and a half spots to play in Qatar next winter, with Canada taking most of the spoils with their win against the USMNT. Now, Canada are in pole position to claim the first spot to play the FIFA World Cup, and their game on Wednesday seems like the best chance they will get to do so.

Before we get to analyze all games, here are the standings in the CONCACAF WCQ after ten matches for all teams. This table will show you exactly which teams are closer to qualifying and which ones need to start thinking about the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Now, let's have a look at all the games set to be played on Wednesday in chronological order.

Jamaica vs Costa Rica - The Reggae Boyz are almost out of the race to play in Qatar, as they need to win all games and see Panama, Mexico, or the USMNT losing all their games for them to have a shot. On the other hand, Costa Rica are a bit closer to the leading pack, but they also need to produce some wins in their remaining matches to avoid the elimination. A win for Costa Rica would tighten things up in the Qualifiers (especially if Panama's result favors them), but if a draw takes place, both of these teams chances would be drastically reduced.

USA vs Honduras - The Yanks were shocked by Canada in last Sunday's game, and while Honduras does not seem like a major threat to them, the team coached by Gregg Berhalter needs to confirm that notion with a win that will keep fans calm ahead of the final International break. As for Honduras, the Central American side is eliminated from the competition, with their record showing no wins after ten games, and with their only goal being trying to slow down the progress of the teams they will be facing from now on.

El Salvador vs Canada - The hosts have a slim chance of winning a spot in the World Cup, but they need to win all their remaining games to do so. Los Cuscatlecos will not have it easy this time, as they will host the leaders Canada, who are just two points away from returning to a World Cup after 36 years. John Herdman's men are still unbeaten after ten games, and dropping the ball here being so close would be a big shock for those involved in the Qualifiers. Either way, both sides will leave everything out there to benefit their cause, and in Canada's case, we believe there will not be any bigger motivation than winning their spot in the World Cup for good.

Mexico vs Panama - These teams are third and fourth in the Qualifiers with only one point between them, which means that this could be a massive win for either side in their quest for a straight spot to the World Cup. With the exception of their win against Honduras, Mexico have been disappointing at home, which may give Panama a fighting chance when they visit Azteca Stadium. Panama have never won a game in Mexico, and if they could pull that off here, it would be a testament of their massive improvement since they made the trip to play in Russia four years ago. As for Mexico, El Tri boss Gerardo Martino could be sacked if they are unable to keep all the points to themselves on Wednesday. Which side will come out on top, according to you?
