The Frenchman was initially favoring an Old Trafford exit once his contract ends this summer, but according to the latest reports, he is experiencing a change in heart.

Much has been said about Paul Pogba's contractual situation at Old Trafford. The French superstar is one of the club's highest earners, but with his deal ending this summer, the World Cup winner appeared destined to leave for free despite joining the club on a record $116.4M fee back in 2016.

Links with PSG and Real Madrid have been doing the rounds while the player's infamous agent Mino Raiola continues to publicly flirt with the idea of a move elsewhere. However, according to the Sun, the former Juventus ace is ready to make a U-turn and commit his future to the Premier League giants.

The British tabloid claims that despite ending contract negotiations with the club a while ago, the 28-year-old, who initially favored a Theatre of Dreams exit once his contract ends, is now willing to remain with the Red Devils for the foreseeable future. However, this is down to one condition and one condition only: whether Ralf Rangnick will remain in charge past his initial six-month deal or not.

Pogba, who is yet to feature for the club this year due to a thigh injury, has held numerous conversations with the interim boss and has reportedly been impressed by the German. As a result, the Frenchman is now open to the idea of staying in Manchester past this summer if the former RB Leipzig tactician is given the permanent job.

According to the report, Rangnick informed the World Cup winner that he intends on making the midfielder a focal point of the team, both on and off the pitch. Mourinho struggled to get the best out of Paul and while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did a better job than the Special One, the Norwegian could not replicate this consistently.

Not only is the German boss ready to build a team around the Bleus ace, but he is also keen on making the player a leader at Old Trafford. Division has festered in the Man United dressing room, but despite this, Pogba remains a popular figure with everyone, which could prove beneficial when trying to manage a fractured group.

But the question is will Rangnick remain in charge past this season? The revered coach was brought in only on a temporary basis, with the plan being to promote him to an advisory role in favor of another manager once the current campaign wraps up. However, the Sun states that the Red Devils board have put that managerial search on pause after being wowed by the 63-year-old and the work he has done so far.

Contract negotiations with Pogba could be resumed, but a lot hinges on how he fares between now and the end of the season. The midfielder has been out since November but is expected to make his return in the club's next Premier League game, a trip to relegation-battling Burnley on February 7.
