The Blaugrana side has considered the Gabonese striker as a backup replacement due to the difficulty they have faced to sign their primary option.

One of the ongoing transfer sagas of the winter transfer window could come to an end in the next couple of days, as Arsenal could finally get rid of former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the footballer could fulfill his long-time dream of playing in La Liga.

According to reports by Marca and other Spanish newspapers, the out-of-favor Gunners captain has emerged as an alternative for Barcelona to boost their attack following Sergio Aguero's exit and their inability to sign Alvaro Morata. The reports by Spanish media outlets suggest that Aubameyang's move to join Los Culés would be a loan move with the obligation to purchase him away from Arsenal next summer.

The good news for Barcelona fans come since the report suggests that Arsenal would let the player leave to ease the tensions between the footballer and coach Mikel Arteta, who froze out the player since December 6 due to a disciplinary problem. But there's a catch to see this deal come true.

Unfortunately for Los Blaugranas, this move is subject to the club's ability to force Ousmané Dembelé to either sign a contract extension or to depart the club before the end of the transfer window. As we have reported previously, Dembelé is nowhere near from either extending his deal or leaving the club, which will make it harder for Barcelona to add new players, even if they come to the club on loan.

During his days at Borussia Dortmund, Aubameyang never hid his desire to join a La Liga team, naming Barcelona as his preferred option over Real Madrid. Now, only time -and Dembelé- will tell if his dream move to a La Liga club comes true.
