The Chilean attacker's goal proved to be the decider in the cup final after over two hours of football.

This year's Supercoppa Italiana between Inter Milan and Juventus was one for the history books with the former snatching the title right at the death in a remarkable fashion. Thanks to forward Alexis Sanchez's goal in the stoppage time of extra-time, the Nerazzuri successfully sank Bianconeri hearts to secure what the club's sixth trophy win in the annual football match.

The frantic nature of the proceeding endured from start to finish and it was Juventus who successfully broke the deadlock to get things going. Inside the 25 minute minute, Alvaro Morata was able to find Weston McKennie in the Inter Milan penalty box with his perfectly placed cross from the left, and the USMNT star made no mistake in firing the Bianconeri ahead.

Ten minutes before half-time, a foul by De Sciglio inside his side's penalty box handed Serie A's defending champions the opportunity to get back into the game. Lautauro Martinez subsequently buried the ball in the back of the net to restore parity before the half-time break. After an evenly contested second half which had chances aplenty, 30 more minutes of football was required to decide the game. However, it was not until the 121st minute that the all-important goal was scored.

A poor clearance by Alex Sandro in the Juve box paved the way for Matteo Darmian to knock the ball into the path of Alexis Sanchez who subsequently finished from close range with the game's final kick, sparking wild celebrations inside San Siro. Watch the goal below:
