Another installment of the Derby d'Italia is on the cards when Inter and Juventus lock horns in the 2021 Supercoppa Italiana.

Preview: Inter vs Juventus

On Wednesday, fans will be treated to another installment of the Supercoppa Italiana, as the 34th edition gets underway at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. And another iteration of the famed Derby d'Italia is on the cards, with familiar foes Inter and Juventus preparing to do battle. As per usual, it will pit the reigning Scudetto champions against the most recent winners of the Coppa Italia, with the Nerazzurri, who won their first Scudetto since 2010 assuming that post while the Bianconeri come into the contest as the winners of the Coppa Italia.

As things stand, both teams have kicked off 2022 with a win, with Inter edging out Lazio 2-1 while Juventus successfully navigated their way through a seven goal thriller to beat Lazio's rivals Roma 4-3. This match will present the first chance for either Inter or Juventus to claim the first piece of silverware available in the new year, and Inter in particular will be looking to get their hands on the prize after losing to Milan in 2011.

Indeed, this will be the tenth appearance for the Nerazzurri and their first in 11 years. To date, Inter have won five titles, but their last was in 2010, and this will be the first meeting between Inter and Juventus at this juncture since 2005. The Nerazzurri have been largely going from strength to strength in what is Simone Inzaghi's sophomore term at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, as they scored over 100 goals during 2021 - making them the first Serie A team in over a half a century to achieve this.

Meanwhile, Juventus still continue to struggle for consistency in what is Massimiliano Allegri's second spell at the club. Presently in fifth spot, the Bianconeri did kick off 2022 on a great note, but still there remain doubts about this team. Certainly, they could silence some of their doubters if they can beat Inter - the team who denied them the Scudetto last term - in the first battle for silverware in 2022.

Team news: Inter vs Juventus

Inter: Hakan Calhanoglu missed out during Inter's win over Lazio at the weekend due to suspension, but he'll be able to feature here for Simone Inzaghi's side, who will be at full strength for this match.

Juventus: The Bianconeri have been dealt a huge blow with an injury to key winger Federico Chiesa, who's set to miss the rest of the season following an ACL injury. Meanwhile, both Juan Cuadrado and Matthijs de Ligt are suspended while defensive duo Leonardo Bonucci and Danilo are out injured. However, Juve have been given a boost with Giorgio Chiellini returning to the fold following COVID-19.
