The Spanish tactician also poured cold water on any transfer rumors surrounding his current footballers.

As the days go by, an agreement between Barcelona and Ousmané Dembelé seems to be further away from happening. With that in mind, coach Xavi Hernández stepped up to discuss the future of his winger in what could be his final months at Camp Nou.

Speaking in the pre-match presser for the Copa del Rey game against Linares, Hernández urged Dembelé to make up his mind regarding his immediate future, especially since his decision will have a major effect on Barcelona's transfer business this month.

"I am calm and I am waiting for news. It is not up to me, it's up to Dembelé, the club and his agents. He should make an effort and think about what's next for him and for Barcelona. His future is linked to Barcelona's," Xavi stated.

Replying to an inquiry about a possible disappointment regarding the player, the former midfielder admitted that he wishes this situation is sorted out as soon as possible, but it is the player who holds the key to untangle his future.

"No, as I said, I am just waiting. Our project could not be better for him. He is happy here and I expect him to make an effort to stay," the coach added.

Barcelona has been linked with many high-profile moves, both in an out, which should take place this winter. Before things got blown out of proportion, the coach decided to come forward and discuss Philippe Coutinho's involvement in such moves and why fans should not dream about a lot of moves in the next few weeks.

"I haven't spoken to him, but he is a good professional. In order for us to sign players, we need to let some of them go. I believe that we will add Dani Alves to our roster today, and for us to add Ferrán (Torres) we need to let players leave or to have Dembelé signing a contract extension. Until there are no departures, we cannot speak about any arrivals," Xavi concluded.
