UWCL Draw

Current UWCL trophy holders Barcelona and competition debutants Real Madrid headline the quarterfinals. Coincidentally, the two Spanish clubs clashed in a league match on Sunday, Dec. 12. Dutch forward Lieke Martens helped Barca to a 3-1 win over Real at Estadio Alfredo di Stefano in Madrid.

International foes Juventus and Olympique Lyonnais meet again after facing off in the now obsolete 2020-21 UEFA Women’s Champions League Round of 32. It was Lyon who advanced to the Round of 16 by a global score of 6-2, defeating Juventus in both legs. The Vecchia Signora will aim to make the best out of home-field advantage in the first leg this time around.

The reigning champions of France and Germany, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, were drawn to face one another in the quarterfinals. These two teams faced off in the first game of The Women’s Cup in August 2021. Bayern advanced to the final after taking down PSG in penalties.

Lastly, current FA Women’s Super League leader Arsenal and German powerhouse VfL Wolfsburg will battle it out for a spot in the semifinals.

The away goals rule was removed from the competition, so ties level after 180 minutes in the quarterfinals or semi-finals will go to extra time irrespective of the number of goals each team has scored home and away. If the teams still cannot be separated after extra time, then it goes to a penalty shoot-out.
