Manchester United travel to Brentford on Tuesday night for yet another test ahead of a very busy festive season.

Manchester United will be poised to hold onto their unbeaten run under new manager Ralf Rangnick when they travel to Brentford for Tuesday night's league encounter. The Red Devils have impressed in recent weeks after the club resorted to a managerial change after an underwhelming campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. With the new dawn which has seen both Michael Carrick and Rangnick successively calling the shots from the dugout, the Old Trafford outfit are yet to suffer a loss and will approach the upcoming game with the desire to creep back into top-four with a win.

Although reports from England have revealed that United's trip to London is in doubt as a result of the rise in Covid cases among their personnel, their label as favorites cannot be overlooked. Since the 4-1 humiliation they suffered against Watford, they have gone on a six game unbeaten streak across all competitions. In the Premier League, they have managed a draw against Chelsea and have beaten Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Norwich City within the same period. Currently, 11 points separate the 13-time league champions and leaders Man City but the possibility to move into fourth is well within sight with West Ham sitting right above them with just a point advantage.

Needless to say, Manchester United may well require a lot more motivation coming into up against a Brentford side who are gradually becoming the neutrals' favorite. Since their promotion to the English top-flight, the Bees have been working tirelessly to remain in the competition and the remarkable work done by manager Thomas Frank needs no mentioning. The London club will approach the mid-week's encounter looking to extend their unbeaten run to three following a draw with Leeds and victory over Watford.

So far they have accrued 20 points from 16 outings and sit in 10th position as a result. While it remains early days yet, they are now nine points away from the relegation zone with a couple of games left to play for the first round. A win over Manchester United could see them move to eighth position ahead of their trip to Southampton on December 18.

Team news

Ivan Toney has returned for Brentford after a brief spell with Covid while Sergi Canos has served his suspension. Ethan Pinnock, a central defender, has been ruled out after testing positive for the virus, while David Raya, the goalkeeper, and Kristoffer Ajer are also injured.
