For the second time this year, the Gabonese attacker has been punished and publicly called out by his manager.

Arsenal face Southampton in the Premier League today and while the fans had enough to worry about from the get-go, another concerning issue surfaced at the club.

As per usual, the team for this Emirates Stadium showdown was announced an hour before kick-off. What quickly caught everyone's attention was the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from not only the starting eleven, but also the bench.

Initially, injury or an illness was presumed to be the cause. However, once Mikel Arteta faced the camera to discuss his lineup, the Spanish manager revealed that his absence was due to another disciplinary breach. Check out what the Gunners boss had to say in the video below.

As a result, Aubameyang quickly began trending on social media as his exile from the team became a contentious point of debate. Given that the Gabonese striker has been struggling recently, getting relegated to the bench in the recent 2-1 loss at Everton due to his poor form, a portion of the fan base welcomed this reaction from the manager.

On the flip side, others were quick to criticize Guardiola's former assistant coach, pointing to his growing list of fallouts, with Guendouzi, Ozil, Saliba, and Maitland-Niles also getting on his wrong side.

The most worrying part about this latest development was an additional admission from Arteta. When asked how long the former Dortmund ace will be gone for, the gaffer simply stated "it starts now".

This is not the first time this has occurred at the Emirates Stadium this year. Back in March, Aubameyang was dropped for the north London derby, a game they eventually won 2-1, due to disciplinary isssues. It will be interesting to see how this situation develops and whether it will spell the end of Pierre's time at Arsenal.
