The battle for the top spot between Porto and Sporting will continue this weekend with a complicated match for both sides this weekend.

The 2021-22 Primeira Liga season has given fans quite a bit to talk about, and the next weekend promises to keep supporters waiting for more following the recent games played by those involved in the competition.

Porto and Sporting remain unbeaten in the tournament, although Sporting will make it to the weekend in higher spirits after their performance in the UEFA Champions League. The Dragons will be eager to prove their worth in the domestic competition and keep the top spot all to themselves if they are capable to keep their better goal difference that the one owned by the Lions.

Benfica, the third of Portugal's Big Three, will try to get closer to the leaders with one game in hand, although their away match against Famalicao will not be as easy as some might expect. Even so, Jorge Jesús' men will also get to this weekend on a high after securing their spot in the knockout stage of the UEFA CL.

Let's have a closer look at what things look like ahead of this weekend's matches in the Portuguese top-flight.

Primeira Liga standings ahead of Matchday 14

Porto and Sporting are level with 35 points each, but Porto have a slight edge over the Lions thanks to their +25 in the goal difference. Benfica are third with 28 points, and Braga will be wary of any slip-up by the Eagles, since they could leapfrog Jorge Jesús' men if they are capable to beat Porto. In fifth, the surprising Estoril remains shocking the league with their performances week in and week out, although there are a couple of teams that could surpass the blue and yellow side if they can't figure out to end a winless run that has extended for the past four games.
