Isak and Co. host the league leaders with one goal in mind: to slash their seven-point advantage at the top.

Preview

The action does not stop for Real Madrid, with the Spanish Primera Division giants returning to the field on Saturday for yet another tricky league fixture. This time around, Los Blancos will locks horns with Real Sociedad, another title hopeful, in a highly-anticipated 3 p.m. ET showdown at the Reale Arena.

Carlo Ancelotti's side currently top the table in La Liga, boasting an impressive seven-point lead over second-placed Atletico – the Madrid giants have played a game extra over Simeone's men, however. The Bernabeu side can thank their brilliant form for this, as the Merengues have won their last seven fixtures in succession across all competitions.

In the Spanish top-flight alone, Real Madrid are yet to lose a single game in their last seven outings. Furthermore, they have won their last five on the trot, which is impressive given that their last two matches were tough showdowns with Sevilla and Athletic Club.

The victory over Athletic was more recent, with Los Blancos overcoming the Basque heavyweights 1-0 on Wednesday thanks to a Karim Benzema goal. The French striker has been nothing short of inspirational this season and was also crucial in the 2-1 victory over Sevilla last weekend, scoring the equalizer after going 1-0 down early on in the fixture. Will they continue this lovely run when they visit Real Sociedad?

La Real have been impressive this campaign as well, but lately, form has gotten away from the home side. Isak and Co. have won eight of their opening 15 games in the league so far while suffering only two defeats, but the Basque side enter this clash on the back of a two-game winless run.

The first of their two slip-ups came two weeks ago, with Imanol Alguacil's side drawing 0-0 at home to Valencia. Albeit late in the game, Real Sociedad had a man sent off and thus could be given some slack as they managed a point. However, a week later, the third-placed side visited Espanyol and suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss, a result which contributed to their drop in the table.

Then there are their Europe League woes, with the Spanish outfits being in danger of crashing out of this season's tournament in the group stage – the less said about Europe, the better. La Real are third in the table but are level on points with second-placed Atletico Madrid having played a game extra. This means failure to stop Real Madrid on Saturday could be devastating for their La Liga hopes. Make sure to catch this clash live!

Team news

Real Sociedad: One key contributing factor to La Real's form has been their injury crisis, with David Silva, Mikel Merino, Alex Sola, and Nacho Monreal all being on the sidelines. Fortunately, Alexander Isak made his return in the defeat to Espanyol and could start on Saturday alongside Oyarzabal.

Real Madrid: Gareth Bale and Dani Ceballos remain Los Blancos' only absentees. Dani Carvajal, who did not feature in the victory over Athletic Club, should return to the lineup for this tie.

Key stats

  • The last two encounters between these two Spanish outfits have ended in draws (0-0 in September 2020 and 1-1 in March 2021).

  • Los Blancos boast six triumphs from their last seven away games in La Liga.

  • La Real have beaten Los Merengues only twice in their last 14 home showdowns in La Liga.
